Welcome to The App Puppy!

It has been my pleasure to create a little character for The Book Sniffers new Blog site - The App Puppy!

This new site will be reviewing all sorts of children's book apps and will be THE place to go to find out all about what is happening in the world of the latest craze to hit Children's publishing.

Here he is playing with his pride and joy - his iPaddyPaw;

Nosy Crow Bologna Catalogue..

The Children's Book Fair in Bologna has been and gone and lots of exciting things are happening!

Here is Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam in the Nosy Crow Bologna catalogue (or should that be dogalogue?) sitting beautifully next to Tracey Corderoys other new title 'Whizz! Pop! Granny, Stop!

The proof of Shifty McGifty is now with us and we are just tweaking bits and pieces and sorting out the cover but its nearly all there!

Lovely Jubilee!

I have just finished my first of three Diamond Jubilee illustrations.

This one is of the Queen in 1952(3) at her Coronation.  One of her little Corgi's has crept in for a nap the cheeky chap!

This design will be featured in the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Exchange in Manchester.

More designs and info on where they will be seen coming soon.

Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam ruff ruffs!

I have very nearly finished my first picture book with author Tracey Corderoy and the lovely folk at Nosy Crow.

There is still the odd tweak hither and thither to do and the cover is still being worked on but it's looking lovely!

I can't upload any finished images at the moment but here is a tiny sneak peak of the roughs that I did towards the beginning of the book creating process.

This was a few meetings into the book and we cleared the meeting room table at the Crow's Nest to lay out my sketches and to discuss changes/additions/what delicious cakes these are Kate/etc...

Many of these spreads have now since been drastically changed but the characters and the overall feel of the book were very much set in stone at this stage.

I can't wait for the finished item to be shown at the Bologna Book Fair later this month!

My first proof!

Five Christmas Penguins arrived through the letterbox this morning and it looks very lovely indeed - I'm very happy with it!

It is an INCREDIBLY SHINY and CHRISTMASSY book full of sumptuous foils and embossing - I think children will really like it in the run up to Christmas.

Helen Holmes at Little Tiger has done a wonderful job at taking my designs and adding glitz galore to every page :)

More news on Five Christmas Penguins nearer the release date but for now here is the VERY SHINY INDEED cover!

...and here is a sneaky peek of the VERY SILVERY first pages - WEEEEEEEEE!
